Initial Post (Answer both Questions). (As a reminder, for all posts, no linked documents. If you type it out on a document, copy and paste the posts into the DB textbox using the “remove formatting” option. That way we can all easily read the material.)
First, download the Attitudes Towards Unions test and complete it (see link below). Read each column and select the best answer for you. If you are unsure of which column to check, take your “best guess.” After taking the test, count up the number of A’s and the number of B’s you selected. Depending upon what you selected, you will either support unions or support more business.
Attitude Towards Unions Download
Q1a What was your total A’s and B’s? Share with the class the possible causes for any positive or negative feelings about labor relations/unions. Find one or two questions that you strongly identify with and share why. Then try and find a current event around your view and share with the class how this is still an important matter. Try to find a well written publication that discusses the issue rather than a generic news source.
Q1b. Describe your union experience, or if none, research current benefits and downsides of being a union member (give a few examples), and comment on whether or not you would like to be part of a union.
Draft a fully developed essay describing in detail your overall test results, two questions that stood out and why do you think you feel this way, and evaluate some benefits of being in a union.
Give examples supported with research.
Be sure to use academic, peer reviewed articles, studies, trade journal source(s) published within 5 to 6 years beyond the course text to support your ideas – see grade rubric. A simple internet, .com, blog or web search in most cases is not academic. Please work with the librarians. Text with them.
Don’t Quote Sources Unless Absolutely Necessary: Overusing quotations often causes more problems than it helps. For example, using a quote to make a point “jigsaws” the quoted point into your point causing the message to be vague, narrowly focused or overly generalized. Further, quotations often result in “sound bites” rather than explaining the main point(s) of the source. As a solution, the American Psychological Manual (APA) 7th Ed. recommends that students summarize the information in their sources (what is the main point(s) or purpose of the work?) rather than directly quoting from the author(s) because paraphrasing allows students to fit the material to the context of their paper to ensure the message is clear. Grading includes ensuring quoting is kept to a minimum and that the summarizing of the source is accurate and clearly connects to the students

Most states have a grant program designed for employers to apply for and use fun

Most states have a grant program designed for employers to apply for and use funds to pay for training for the employees they already employ (incumbent workers). Though the verbiage, funding sources, and requirements may vary from state-to-state, the basic idea is the same. Employers must identify training needs for their employees, provide training paid for by the grant, and then report on the outcomes of the training. Here is a list of resources by state***: https://construct-ed.com/incumbent-workforce-training-resources-by-state/
______________
For this assignment, you will create a double-sided TRI-FOLD [using Microsoft Word, Canva.com, Microsoft PowerPoint, or a similar platform] advertising a training program for your current employer, or an employer with which you are familiar, using Incumbent Workforce resources. You should, but are not required to, use the program parameters of your state (Pick one: Texas, California, or Hawaii). If you do not wish to use your state, Louisiana has a robust program you should use for those details.
The brochure TRI-FOLD should include the following information:
1__Identify a training need in your current organization or an organization with which you are familiar.
2__Using the principles of learning, identify a type of training to be offered to employees. Make sure to describe the training in detail and provide a clear connection between the training selected and the organizational need.
3__A list of how the employee benefits from the training program.
4__A list of how the organization benefits from the training program.
5__A section that includes the parameters of the program (i.e., who’s eligible to participate, outcomes required by the state program, how the program is funded), and how the training would be evaluated. Remember, if your state does not have specific requirements, use the program set forth by Louisiana.
6__You should include at least two professional images in the brochure and it should be professional, polished, and geared towards professional, not academic, use.
Some ideas for training include: leadership training, systems training, and computer training. Make sure that your training is authorized under the program. For example, the Incumbent Worker Training Program in Louisiana outlines program requirements here***: https://www2.laworks.net/Downloads/IWTP/Bus_IWTPRegulations.pdf

Background: Judith and Eric Sultan own a business providing HR decision-making expertise to employers across the nation. The name of their business is HRM Analysis Services. Their business is located in Phoenix and has grown exponentially since 2005. Up to this point they have not had their own employees, but instead hired established consultants (often called management analysts) to work on a project-by-project basis.
They want to hire three full-time management analysts to work in three different locations: San Francisco, Philadelphia, and Miami. The analysts would scout out work in their designated regions and manage the contracting and oversight of contractual consultants.
Judith and Eric plan to keep ownership of the company, but want to step away from the day-to-day as soon as the business is working well enough without them.
The focus of this assignment is to assist Judith and Eric with the selection of three Management Analysts by coming up with a weighted formula of important selection factors. The Job Applicants Table shows the applicants who applied for the position. See What Management Analysts Do for a descriiption of the position.
Your task is to:
Develop a formula to quantify the merits of each applicant based on the factors provided. Justify why you gave heavier weight to some factors over others.
Develop your own visual/graphic showing how each applicant fared.
Discuss your visual/graphic in essay format.
Recommend 6-8 applicants to proceed to a panel interview phase.
Critique the process of identifying best candidates to proceed in a selection process by using a custom-designed formula applied to each candidate.
Use at least 3 library sources to help strengthen your discussion. Reference all material cited.
Your paper plus table(s) should be at least 4-5 pages (not including cover sheet and reference page).
Note: There is no right or wrong formula to use. Use your best judgment for a formula based on the factors in the table given. Be sure to also spend time on the critical-thinking/analysis phase of this assignment.

You and several classmates have formed a human resource consulting company. You have
recently been hired to provide training to the sales force for an automobile dealership. As
part of your preparation for this consulting engagement, you and your team members must
determine how best to approach the automobile dealership to engage the interest of the
decision makers. Your part of this assignment is to propose the types of needs assessment
tools that could be used to determine how to design and develop the automobile
dealership’s training programs. These assessment tools could include software, models, or
analysis methods. Once you complete your needs assessment, you must now meet with the
owner of the dealership to discuss the needs assessment.
From the perspective of a team member, write a 3-4 page needs assessment process in
which you do the following:
1. Develop an outline that details the process your team will use to conduct a needs
assessment for the clients training program, support your decisions with academic
resources.
a. Review Chapter 4 on needs assessments. It discusses different types of
assessments. Select the best one(s) to use to gather information. Keep in mind
that you are trying to find out the organizations needs related to their sale force.
Hence, you need to outline the method you are going to use to gather
information and make a recommendation to management on what type of
training may be required. Use this information in conjunction with your research
from the Week 3 discussion.
2. Identify two possible constraints to your needs assessment approach, explain how the
constraints will be overcome.
a. The text also discusses obstacles to conducting a needs assessment, such as time,
cost, leadership buy-in, and employee willingness to participate. The most
common are time to conduct a thorough assessment and cost. You should
mention the others briefly as supporting information.
3. Evaluate the feasibility of the needs assessment approach based on what is commonly
done in the field, discuss your findings.
a. Feasibility is the likelihood your process would happen in this industry. Is your
process a standard practice?
4. Explain why the needs assessment is critical to the development of the training program
you plan to deliver.
a. Your goal here is to answer what can happen if you develop training without
understanding the training needs and why it is important to determine the issues

This assignment provides you an opportunity to demonstrate mastery of course out

This assignment provides you an opportunity to demonstrate mastery of course outcomes:
Select metrics that are aligned with the organization’s objectives in order to ensure organizational success
Formulate a plan for implementing a total rewards program in order to ensure success of the program
In this assignment, you will write and present a MS PowerPoint Presentation that describes and justifies the total rewards metrics that you propose. The course material provides examples of metrics and how they are used to evaluate the effectiveness of the Total Rewards Program. These metrics will used as a portion of the final paper due Week 8 (the final assessment for the class). Feedback from the instructor may require some revision to the chosen metrics prior to use in the final paper. At least three scholarly references from the course materials are to be presented in APA format, as well as respective in-text citations and relevant Web site documentation if information about the organization is taken from a Web site.
You will define the term metrics, explain how metrics are used to evaluate the success of the total rewards program, identify, describe, and provide examples of at least three metrics and share how you will collect the data for each metric and how you will set the benchmark or goal target for each that you would use to compute and analyze the Total Rewards Program in the organization you are studying in the course. Justification for the metrics linked to the organizational objectives, requisite competencies, and challenges should also be included.
At the least, the presentation will include the following segments:
1.Title Page
2.Introduction and Purpose of the Paper
3.Academic Definition of the Term Metric
4.Explanation of the Use of Metrics in Evaluating the Success of the Total Rewards Program
