An SLP, Lucy, who is a certified member of ASHA and licensed by the state, works as an employee in a private practice. Based on the issues discussed in this unit, write a 550-600 word essay about one of your recent verbal arguments (or one you witnessed). Examine your argument in terms of the elements you now understand about the argument.
Consider—
the specific issue/argument and its importance to you
the focused audience and how this knowledge may have affected your approach
appropriate/practical timing
the opposition’s perspectives, acknowledging strong points made and possible objections presented
as you close: with a new awareness of how arguments can be successful, consider what could have been presented differently in your argument as you explore why some arguments fail.
Guidelines
Use a 12-point font.
Upper left-hand corner—your name, date/unit, (title centered, if you have one), course, professor’s name
Proof carefully—paragraph development, sentence structure/boundaries, grammar/ punctuation
Essay is to be written using MLA format Links to an external site.(if external sources are used)
Use double spacing, so there is room for me to write comments.
Include your last name in the filename (example: Unit-1 AS1 Smith.)
It should be a Word (.doc or .docx) format file.

1. Social constructs Links to an external site.can be defined as ideas or beliefs which a large number of people in a society have agreed are “true.” Though these constructs don’t represent objective reality or truth, they are thought of or internalized as “true” or “real” by the members of that society, and therefore these ideas have major effects on the lives of those who live in said society. Three social constructs that apply to this week’s reading are gender roles, beauty standards, and marriage. In a paragraph for each of the assigned texts, explain how each text demonstrates the way one of these social constructs confines and negatively effects the women. Provide a quote from each text that supports your discussion.
2. It’s natural for anyone who is trapped, confined, or imprisoned to desire escape. Though none of the women in the texts we read about for this week literally escape their confinement, one could argue that they figuratively escape their confinement. Explain how each woman figuratively escapes her confinement.

Family Impact Analysis (25 points).
Write a 3-page (excluding cover page and references) family impact analysis paper of an issue, specific law, or a legislative proposal. Do a research on this particular policy. Read at least 4 peer-reviewed articles and include them in the reference list. (You are not allowed to use FMLA for your policy paper because this is the policy I use as a case study for the class). Using the family impact principles how can or are families being supported in this issue? How can or might families be undermined by this policy? Are there beneficial effects that might have been overlooked without family impact analysis? Are there harmful effects that a family impact analysis might help avoid?
Reflect on the societal factors that influence family policy development, ethical issues, and the roles that family professionals can play in influencing government policies that support and strengthen families. Make sure you demonstrate a thorough understanding of child and family policy concepts and of the societal factors that influence family policy development. Examine the consequences of child and family policies and ethical issues involved. Demonstrate an understanding of the policy-making process and the roles that family professionals can play in influencing government policies that support and strengthen families. Use APA style.

For this assignment, post at least 5 annotations in the text using the reading material attached which engage with the material. And 2 meaningful questions, all of which must be directly related to the prompt below (TOTAL OF 5 PROMPTS AND READINGS). Write in complete sentences. You are free to annotate more but there must be at least 5 annotations and 2 questions. Make sure you annotate the whole paper. Points will be deducted if all of your annotations are in just one section.
READING 1 PROMPT: Jacob (2019)argues that resilience is a pure public good and that hazards governance needs to be understood as a production system geared toward producing such public goods. Why does he define resilience in this way?
What does he mean by such public goods arising from a production technology?
And how do those production technologies vary across phases of the emergency management cycle – i.e. specific functional areas of activity?
READING 2 PROMPT: Renn and Klinke (2015)offer a discussion of different types of knowledge, or different ways of understanding, risk – including core challenges such as uncertainty and ambiguity in assessing risk.
How are those approaches or types of knowledge explained?
How do those approaches/types of knowledge affect processes of assessing risk?
.
READING 3 PROMPT: Wamsler and Brink (2014)offer a very direct and applied illustration of how the idea of a pure public good (at least using the framing the Jacob paper offers), such as climate adaptation, is produced through programmatic actions.
While the national setting is outside the U.S. (in this case Sweden), what do specific adaptation practices look like at the local government level in Sweden?
Are those practices consistent across the country?
How do local efforts fit within a broader national framework for dealing with climate change?
READING 4 PROMPT: Thomalla et al. (2006)offer a pretty straightforward contribution to the course focus on hazards governance:
What do very broad terms such as “disaster risk reduction” (DRR) and “climate change adaptation” actually mean in practical terms?
And what are the similarities and dissimilarities between DRR and climate change adaptation characteristics and practices?
READING 5 PROMPT: Schwab (2019)provides a very useful exposition of how planning systems function as part of a government’s disaster risk reduction approach. He likewise places planning for hazards risk reduction in historic context.
What are the key points Schwab raises in describing the current state of the art for hazards planning?
What is the difference between structural and nonstructural mitigation actions?
How has climate change-related risk become integrated in local hazards planning practice?
